Question Asrock PG-ITX WIFI m.2 slot for OS

I'm currently building a ITX system with the above motherboard and a 7700x. The board has two m.2 slots which supports two fourth gen ssds or one fifth gen and one fourth gen. The fifth Gen is on the front only with available fan and the second port is on the back side of the board. My question is, is it ok to use the back side m.2 slot for OS? There is no access once the board is mounted. I'm saving for a second m.2 which will be used for storage and can be mounted on front. I do not plan on using fifth gen m.2

You can use either slot and the UEFI will pick up the OS drive automatically. ASR does a good job when it comes to just working w/o much fuss.

I just rebuilt using the ASR PG Lightning / 7900X and have been using ASR boards for several builds over the past few years w/o any real issues.


- 1 x Blazing M.2 Socket (M2_1, Key M), supports type 2280 PCIe Gen5x4 (128 Gb/s) mode*
- 1 x Hyper M.2 Socket (M2_2, Key M), supports type 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 (64 Gb/s) mode*
- 1 x Vertical M.2 Socket (Key E), supports type 2230 WiFi/BT PCIe WiFi module

So, you have 2 drive sockets and the WIFI socket.

Thank you for the clarity. I too have transitioned to Asrock a few years ago and appreciate its straight forward UEFI approach especially since manual overclocking in my opinion is no longer a productive option. (At least for AM4/5)

Traditional overclocking is no longer productive but I would still consider using PBO and undervolting your 7700x. It will help keep temps down.

Under-volting absolutely and Asrock makes it quite simple. Love the AMD 7000 series! Low temps, fast frequencies and efficient power use.
