I have the asrock p67 pro3 motherboard. It is advertised as having 8+2 power phases. How do I know that this is true? I read in some review that is has only 4+1 power phase and that the other power phases are virtual. What does this mean? Is dangerous to overclock my i5 2500k with it? I know my cpu runs stable with 1.13v @4.7ghz.

There are two major revisions to the ASROCK motherboard, the normal P67 Pro 3 which has the 8+2 Phase Power Design and the cheaper ASROCK P67 Pro 3 SE special edition version which only came with 4+1 VRM's. Concerning whether to overclock your CPU, obviously it depends on which version of the motherboard. There are various detailed articles on overclocking including Pros and Cons (just Google it). Myself I only slightly overclock my I5 2500K processor on the AS Rock P67 Pro3, but restricted by heat dissipation, and preferring a low noise output.

I think i have the p67 pro3 since I only have one pci-e 16x slot. Low noise isn't a problem for me since I have the bequiet dark rock advanced c1 cooler which is one of the quietest coolers under load and idle. Btw 1.13v is a typo is should be 1.31v. I wish my i5 2500k ran on 4.7ghz with that voltage.
