ASrock P67 Pro3 boot from usb problem

I just installed the board today and forgot that I was using an IDE cd burner but there's only SATA connectors.

Anyway, I made a bootable win7 usb stick which works on my laptop but when I pick the usb stick as the boot device on the ASrock it complains that I need to "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert media"

Now I know it sees the usb stick because it has it listed by name in the bios and it didnt show up there till I connected it.
I've tried enabling legacy usb3 among other things to no avail.

Anybody have any insight?

Thanks

Did you try plugging it in to one of the USB 2 ports?

I have a feeling that booting through a USB 3 port may not work because it is connected to the chipset via a 3rd party controller. By contrast, the USB 2 ports are native to the chipset.

Tried both usb3 and usb2 and selected it as boot disk in bios, neither worked.
Just got it to work right now with usb2 by clearing CMOS...the only setting I remember changing in there was disabling the serial port.

Strange, but thanks for the help.
