ASRock P55 Deluxe 3 SPDIF Nightmare

I need help, or a gun to put me out of my misery...ha

Onboard sound issues with the ASRock P55 Deluxe 3. Here is the motherboard http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P55 Deluxe3 (looks like you might have to copy and paste that, the URL ends with the 3 of "deluxe3")

I have been messing with drivers, bios, google, manuals...cables...and tons of crap for the past 8 or so hours. I recently set this pc up on my home entertainment system, and there is no sound through the optical SPDIF, only the coaxial. I have changed the audio to the correct settings everywhere possible and tried disabling everything except what I wanted. It seems the OS (Windows 7 64 bit) isn't even detecting it. Under jack information in playback devices it only lists the coaxial connector and there is no light coming out of the port, indicating no signal. I really would like to get the optical working but so far all I have working is the lid of some ibuprofen and google...

What I have tried:

1. Updating Drivers
2. Updating Bios
3. Reading the Manual
4. Bios Settings
5. Disabling Other Devices
6. Formatting and installing only the necessary drivers for the sound
7. Different optical cables
8. Different optical ports on my home reciever
9. Glaring and Screaming at the screen
10. Smashing my keyboard

I would appreciate any help.
