ASRock only shuts down manually

Just finished putting together this mobo with a winchester. I cant seem to get this thing to shutdown automatically? It shuts down as if is has no ACPI like windows 95. Im using stock bios on the 939 dual sata board. I checked the motherboard headers everthing is well i even tried connecting them the ass backwards and you know what it STILL POWERED UP!

Well i got this in a cheap powmax case for my son (the one with all the lights) using a good psu coolermaster 19a on the 12v rail and i slapped in a 9600xt with a 512 of gskill just for now till the rest of his stuff gets here. Could it be an IRQ conflict i tried everything changing the acpi from uniprocessor to mult and I THINK THIS MIGHT BE SOMETHING SIMPLE im not getting.

The board is great! It runs flawlessly and properly the only thing is the annoying way i have to shut it down manually with the power button then turn the psu off! Thanks.🙂

Could be a windows issue. Did you format the hardrive and do a fresh install? When changing boards, a fresh install will fix many problems.

Yes i did a fresh install but i havent flashed the bios yet. This board uses AMI bios but I have no floppy installed yet, do you know if i can use a windows flasher that is compatible (that will work) I tried winphlash for ami but it didnt work. ANYONE flashed this bios within windows yet?

It's scary flashing this thing using a floppy, I would not even want to think about flashing this board in Windows.😉

I have heard of people flashing with CDs and USB drives.

I have a usb flash drive to flash with also, but im thinking if there was a problem with the stock bios shutting down right ALOT of people would be complaining.

Im wondering if its just something simple im missing and i can fix it without a flash afterall this is just a little gift to my son for gaming and i would hate to get a bad flash with this chipset, ive never flashed an asrock or uli. Well if any one doesnt have a answer for this thing to shut down normally ill flash it and give it a go. Ive tried various things like changing the HAL to multi from uni and no go. I was kinda wanting to wait till the next bios release to flash and then leave it till a M2 upgrade later on down the road.

Ok i have the new bios still same problem its DRIVING ME CRAZY! I even removed all power leds except the power switch and then the pled IM beginning to think its the case maybe? Im going to pop off the top its a powmax case so i know they are cheap. I dont know what to do im going to reformat and install windows 2000 and see what happens i know its not going to make a difference IM STUCK im hoping someone else has this problem and found a fix on here. Thanks. This thing will power up with ANY wich way the wires are connected! Man i have never seen this before i mean usually if you connect a wire wrong on the headers it wont power up but not this one. I know the wireing is connect correct but i HAVE NO IDEA IF POWMAX MADE THE WIRING CORRECT. Asrocks manual is pretty good and is on spec. HELP. It shuts down like if on standby. SHUTS DOWN but NOT POWERS DOWN. I checked all the jumpers even moved them around.

Changed the ide drive from MASTER TO CS -nothing
connected chassis fan-nothing
changed HAL- NOTHING
changed psusb jumper-nothing
tried to clear cmos even removed battery- get bad checksum error when clearing cmos but it still clears --NOTHING
disconected leds and rearannged them even put them in the wrong way--NOTHING

The computer runs GREAT it just wont SHUT DOWN i have to do it manually.
ANYONE?
