Hey all, i upgraded to a Asrock OC Formula Z97 and 4790k, & when i install 1 GTX 670 its fine, but when i install the 2nd one it wont boot and shows me a screen saying "Please install the PSU's 4-pin power cables to the 4-pin connections on your motherboard" and shows a pic of two 4pin molex connectors connecting to the mobo. Thing is my Asrock OC Formula Z97 mobo doesn't have any such molex connectors nor did they come with the mobo! Guessing its just a filler image?
I ensured the cables are all connected to my 2 GTX 670s, SLI bridge is on, but i still keep getting the same message. What gives? I'm at wit's end here. Never had a problem running these 2 cards in SLI (previous setup in my sig). I have everything the same in my sig except for the Asrock OC Formula z97 & 4790k. No overclocking at all, just trying to get it to run @ default speeds first.
Any help would be greatly appreciated especially by former Asrock owners (its my first one, always went Gigabyte before.....)
Edit: well it turns out with this mobo if u have 3 cards installed u have to use a molex connector, but the connector is at the bottom of the mobo facing down towards the PSU (not up like all the other connectors), so cable cant fit into it. Why the hell would they do such a thing??? 3rd card is a PCIE x1 sound card, not event a graphics card! Terrible design on Asrock's part for whats supposed to be a highend mobo!
Edit #2: well an ASRock tech rep helped me out on the tweaktown forums, she gave me a modified bios that omits the warning screen and allows me to use 3 PCIE cards (not 3 graphics cards) without the molex connector warning!
kudos to ASRock customer support for helping out! btw most PC cases have enough room for the molex connector to be connected, but because i have a small case (Corsair 300r) connecting the molex connector isn't possible because its literally right ontop of my psu (facing down). hope this thread helps someone in the future if they google it. cheerio
