Hello there

I have been using Asrock Dual-Sata2 for about 6 months now and it´s totally stable with T2 settings. Immidiately when I set it to T1 mode I get reboots when a www site has flash animation on it. As alot of people I have doned all the voodoo tricks there are but it always ends up in reboot with flash animations.

I know alot of people have the same problem, but I wonder if changing the ram could help? With my late A8V deluxe mobo my ram worked fine in Dual Channel and T1 mode which makes me suspect the mobo just don´t like tha ram.

I have been looking for G.Skill 2G ZX dual channel kit to replace my old Kingstons.

My current rig is

AMD64 3200+
Asrock Dual-Sata2 with 1.6 bios
2 x 512 Kingston HyperX DDR400
Hitachi T77K250 250G Sata2
ATI radeon X800XT with 6.2 CCC cat

Are you running your t7k250 in sata2 mode?

Did you have no problem installing xp in sata2 mode?

Hi!

Yes Iam currently running my Hitachi on SATA2 port, but I also have tried the normal SATA port too, no go. Also no problems installing XP in with sata2 port, just these reboots with flash animation and errors in memtest 8# test. I have also bought better sata cable just to be sure, but nothing seems to be curing the flash animation boot.

Whats the latest news on T1 affecting game play speeds? Is it worth to buy DFI ultra-D just for T1 speed? Iam getting X1900XT card as we speak so I want my cpu/mobo to be in top notch condition.

T7k250 comes out with sata1 mode as default.
Did you use Hitachi feature tool to change to sata2 mode?

Hitachi tool did not find my HDD while in sata2 port but I had better luck with the regular sata1 port. You were right boake that the Hitachi T7K250 was set on default to 1.5g speed. There was a 3.0g speed naturally but the program insisted that a setting named "spread spectrum setting ON/OFF" should be set also.

I have no idea what this spread spectrum setting is with HDD, should I enable or diasable it with SATA2 3.0g transfer speed?

ill give the 3.0g mode a try this evening.

About the original guestion. has anybody fixed their 1T probs with memory change?

edit:

changed Hitachi drive to work on 3g speed and XP is stable, no problems. I have not tested long but so far no errors.

You're stuck with T2. Even if you get it stable at T1, it doesn't last. My board was perfect at T1 for about a week, then started crashing if I hit a web site with a flash intro. T1 makes a big dif in memory benchmarks, almost none in real world use.

Boake:

The 3.0g speed worked fine for a day, I played bit COD2 etc with no problems. But with Galactic Civilization 2 I got reboots after 10 minutes or so. Iam not totally sure did the change back to 1.5g speed with HDD correct this or my electricity wiring order :) Well anyways back to 1.5g speed with hitachi, it did not bring any speed in benchmarks or with Ghost back upping.

Greenman:

Yes I had my Asrock dual-sata2 working with 1T too for about 4-5 days and then started to get crashing again. Very weird, well no matter I bet Oblivion will like the extra memory no matter 1T or 2T :)

Just recieved my G.Skill ZX 2g dual kit from England and Iam happy to inform that 1T works like a charm. No boots with Flash animations or any errors.

Lets hope it lasts, Greenmans comment was´t exactly encouraging :)

there is no fix for the 1T command rate problem. asrock will either have to release a new bios or driver update to fix it. they are aware of the problem but so far have not fixed it, search for my user name here in this forum for a post i have about this subject with some links to some more info

hclarkjr your right. After many hours of testing I finally found one Flash site which crashed my computer. Then again I probably won´t ever visit that site intentionally, so in that light I could use 1T with no problems. I hope Asrock will fix this although game speed wise this is not a issue, but still annoying :(

boake: One more question about SATA stuff. What does exactly the SATA2 drive strenght mean. It has Normal and Strong options in Bios. I googled like a mad man , but could not find answer to this one. Thanks in advance!

Sata2 have several features that sata1 dosen't have, such as NCQ(native command queuing, hot plug.
And if you benchmark with hd-tach, you will notice burst speed goes up over 200mb/s. :)

ps. I didn't notice any difference between normal and strong. I'm just using the normal.
