Hey guys,
Got an interesting one here, recently upgraded to the following:
Motherboard:
ASRock CONROEXFIRE-ESATA2 SKT775 945P PCI-E 7.1 channel audio ATX
CPU:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13ghz) Socket 775 FSB1066 2MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor
GFX Card:
BFG 8800GTS OC 320MB DDR3 Dual DVI PCI-E
Memory:
Corsair 1GB DDR2 533 MHz 128mx64 Non-ecc 240 Dimm Unbuffered Cl4
Harddrive:
Seagate ST3160811AS 160GB 7200.9 SATA II 7200RPM Drive - OEM
Now i've got past the using the sata drivers to get windows installed, i got the whole thing running peachy until saturday afternoon. I was playing BF2, had just stuck the settings on maximum, including anti-ailiasing at x8 or something, can't remember exactly, when all of a sudden the screen went black and the pc began to reboot.
I've tried reseating the graphics card, i've moved the ram from one slot to another. I've reset the cmos battery and i've looked but there is no pc speaker on my case so i cannot tell which of the devices are missing on bootup.
Someone mentioned a problem with this board and PCI-E graphics cards, as tis board doesn't have a locking mechanisim on the pci-e slot, however i don't think that would cause a continuous problem.
The other thing of note, is that my case has a 500w power supply, could this be a factor? I bought one with such a PSU simply because of the graphics card, although i never considered i could give the pc too much juice, not sure if it works like that :/.
Im going to test my gfx card on a friends machine, was wondering if there are any other suggestions people might have for me to check or try out?
Any help is much appreciated, my copy of supreme commander arrives tomorrow and it's the soul reason for me purchasing this setup, although i fear if its not something stupid i've overlooked i'll be having to wait on new hardware being returned and sent back.
