At Canada Computers & Electronics $299 with a $20 mail in rebate - What a deal for a lucky Canadian - As if a 5500 XT should be a 5700 XT for that price on a Black Friday Sale ;o(

Did buy a Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT for $529 regular $599 which ended up costing me $622 on Newegg after Tax and Shipping ;o(

This card will cost 1/2 this price on eBay once the new nVidia and AMD cards get into the main stream, perhaps this spring. The RTX 3070 at $400 USD will still cost over $750 - $800 CDN + Tax and Shipping - What can I say - The cost of PC Components and Electronics are horrid in Canada.

Geez ! Both Newegg.ca and Amazon.ca want approx $1550.00 CAD for the AIB RTX 3070's.

No one is going to buy it in Canada for that price but resort to a $550.00 last years card like the RX 5700 XT.

All nVidia CPU's in Canada are exorbitantly over priced.

Right now Canadians will be lucky to get a RTX 3070 for $800 CAD Vs a RX 6800 XT for $990 PLUS TAX - costing well over $1000 CAD; as is Canadians have to go for the Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT (Last years Card) for $530 PLUS TAX @ $600 CAD. Our Auzzie friends are in the same boat ;o(

Black Friday MSRP GPU deals only apply for Americans - Hope you beat yourself to death.

Mean while Canadians have to wait at least a year later for the same deal when Americans sell off GPU's for the next generation of GPU's.

College and University Canadian Grad's asked: "What's your future?" - Answer - "To be hired by an American Firm". American's can't educate their own - Instead they buy Us.

History has proven Canadian Companies are not stable. LOOK at ATi sell out to AMD for example or for that matter AVRO and the Arrow Interceptor. My dream as a kid was to work for AVRO.

I have no hatred towards my American Sister's and Brother's but Corruption and Greed seems to plague Democracy.

As a Canadian, of course, I'm pissed of with these Black Friday, Monday and Boxing Day Sales. Americans have to start educating their children and stop robbing resources from other country's.

The prices I've quoted are REAL for Canadian and Australian Black Friday Sales. We are not a Colony.

Things are about to change !

Not a whole lot different situation in the US stock/price wise at the moment ... don't feel bad!

Fortunately my GTX-980 is still working fine for the most part but I am feeling the urge for an upgrade GPU to go with my shiny new Ryzen system. (especially since I'm now at 1440p)

Thank you Captante for your response:

I did buy a Sapphire Pulse from Newegg.ca for $529 CAD totaling with Tax and shipping for $621 (Sitting at the Post Office now for pick up on Monday) and bought a Bykski WB for it from China for $102 total CAD to be delivered within the next 3 months. Not too shabby considering, I did NOT get a Free Game for a grand total of $723 CAD where the RTX 3070 is worth approx $760 CAD plus Tax and Shipping making it worth around $900 CAD, if and when available ;o(

I have to forget about the RTX 3070 or the RX 6800 XT in the months to come , if and when available.

System:
ASUS X470 CH7 Hero
RYZEN 3700X
32GB 4X8 3200Mhz CL14 T-Force Dark Pro DDR4 (Can do 3600Mhz CL16)
Various Hi-End XFX and EVGA PSU's

Planning the 3700X under a Corsair H115i Pro AIO and the Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT under a WB and a 280 X 2 X 60mm Rad Push Pull with Noctua Fans in a Fractal ARC Case.

Want to keep the H2O loop separate.

I'm not that much of a Gamer but a System Builder ! And WinX hates System Builders.

Coming from 2 X's R9 290X's Sapphire's in X-Fire under H20. Loved them Cards with a Z68 MB (ASUS Z68VPro-Gen3 , i7 2700K and Samsung Green DDR3 at 2300Mhz. The CPU still runs at 4.8Ghz 24/7 and can hit 5.2Hz after all these years - Actuaslly prefer the them Samsung greens at 1866 Mhz at CL 9. Everything running at an unbelievable 1.2v's.

Monitor is an IPS 165Hz PIXIO Prime 7.

Should be great 2K 1440p Gaming rig !

Wish me LUCK !

Thanks Larry - I will do my Best ;o)

Looks like the Bykski Pulse WB addresses that issue - I got lots of Thermal Pads.

Got a couple of months before I get into that Bykski Pulse H20 System - Giving me time to experiment while waiting for the Bykski WB to arrive ;o)

Can I fit the platform to fit into the Fractal R3 ARC, I do have a Meshify C.

Basically, I run my Systems without a case on a Card Table - LOL

Question: The latest "radeon-software-adrenalin-2020-20.11.2-win10-64bit-nov18.exe" driver works for both the R9 290X and Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT - Right ?

I want WinX clean before exchanging AMD GPU's.

Or do I run DDU in SafeMode and re boot with the new card and reinstall the driver ?

I *think* that the newest Adrenaline 2020 drivers, work for both the new(er) RX 5700(XT) cards and other Navi GPUs, AND prior-gen GCN-family GPUs like the R9 290X.

Although, the Polaris cards, the RX 570/580/590/470/480 cards, the drivers had an option for a "compute mode", which in truth, I believe actually switched the driver binary controlling the card at a low level if you set that option (for that card). I don't know if that Polaris driver interferes with the Navi cards, if "compute mode" and (Navi) "normal" drivers can co-exist on a rig.

Although, from reading some mining-related infos, I'm guessing that they can.

So I feel pretty strongly that you likely shouldn't run into too many problems, but I will suggest that perhaps installing the newest AMD Adrenaline 2020 drivers AFTER installing both cards into the rig, might be the best idea, honestly.
