Asrock BTC PRO - 2 PSU's

Hi guys,

Have a question, important one 😀

I have a Asrock BTC Pro which has two extra molex inputs on the board to supply power to the PCI-E lanes.

Can I used two different power supplies, one powering the 24pin+4pin on the board and the other supplying the power to the molex connectors ?

Or should I use one PSU for all motherboard connections ?

Thanks!

The simple short answer is yes, you should. If your PSU does not have enough Molex connectors, its easily (and cheaply) remedied by a couple of Y splitters. Just mind how many amps your PSU can put out.

If you're running multiple graphics cards, you'll be better served by a higher wattage quality PSU, then attempting to do something like running multiple PSU's...

As money is short :/ I'm going to return the Chieftec (since I still can) and exchange it for another CS650M.

This way I have one CS650M running two R9 270's plus motherboard and another CS650M running one R9 270 and one 7850.

Maybe later, depending on the return I will buy something like 1200w PSU, but atm it's just too expensive :/

Thanks for your reply 🙂

Just a thought, but you might be able to run that on a good 750W-850W unit (f.x. CX or CS 750(M), RM750 or perhaps RM850 for a bit of headroom). If you add up the TDP of those cards, it only adds up to 580W. Even allowing a (very generous) 100W for the CPU, a 750W should handle that.

No guarantee though.
