Asrock B75 Pro 3 no start

System has been sitting for awhile. Disconnected everything from mobo. Removed ram sticks.

When I power on the power light comes on and the CPU fan spins for a second. Then it stops and the light goes off. Then the light comes on again and the fan spins again. Repeats until I kill the power at the power supply.

No beep code.

Ideas?

Swapped out Corsair CX500 with a Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000. No joy. On a whim I replaced the CMOS battery. Voila! Old battery tested at 0.3 volts.

All of this just to wipe some Iomega Jaz and Orbi disks before I list them on eBay. 🙂

Some people on here have tried to tell me, that the CMOS battery is ONLY for storing settings, and that its not intimately tied to actual booting. I disagree, and this example supports my viewpoint.

Some boards are like that, and some will boot up just fine without a battery.. My experience seems to indicate that it really just depends on the board.

Likewise, some boards can be powered-up, with the CMOS jumper in the "CLEAR" position, and some boards, it will actually literally damage them if you ever do that.
