Just wondering, how high do you think I could overclock an X4 640 3.0Ghz CPU on this mobo?
That CPU is a 95W CPU, and this board, according to the CPU support list, can handle 125W Thuban chips.
Wondering if I could get 3.4 or better? I have some of the AMD stock 4-heatpipe coolers to use.
Or would it be better to just invest in a Thuban?
The board does have a SB710, but nothing on the product page says anything about core unlocking. Is ACC the same thing as core unlocking? On the gigabyte boards, you have to enable BOTH "ACC" as well as set something to "hybrid". I don't know if the second setting exists on this board.
If it does support unlocking, then perhaps a Zosma chip would be a better choice?
Intended use for this CPU, is video streaming using an upload site, and a PCI capture card (NTSC video), and for distributed computing (when not streaming).
Edit: Wow, according to Newegg's description, it actually supports up to 140W CPUs! That should give me plenty of overclocking headroom.

According to this thread, this mobo does support unlocking.

So, would it be worthwhile getting a Zosma?
