ASRock 939sata won't POST

Hi,
I got this board from newegg but for some reason it's not POSTing. I have the 12V plugged in. I'm using a power supply that I know is working (used it with previous comp). I've tried re-seating the CPU and the RAM, and I've used 2 different vid cards. When I turn it on, all the fans spin, but the monitor gets no signal. The only thing connected is the CPU, RAM, and vid card. The mobo is in the case but the case was also from a previous build so it should work. What else can I try?

Thanks.

At least make sure you have a hard disk and a keyboard connected as well... 😛 What RAM are you using? If it's two sticks, throw one out and try again... It could of course always be that your mobo is kaputt, but we'll try looking for other things first... 🙂

HDD are not required, nor keyboard. That wont prevent the motherboard to post. What would could be a mounting post that is somewhere underneath the board and shorting it out. The old motherboard may not have the same hole that the new one.

Thou art right... It does need 'em for booting... 😉

I'm having the exact same problem. I didn't try re-seating the CPU. I am using an Antec case. But wouldn't it not turn on if there was insufficient power?

I have tried all 3 dimms in all 4 slots. I put everything back on the old board, and it works fine. Should I try a new case? I'm worried that I fried something while installing. It's not all that difficult to install but I seem to mess things up eveyr so often. Tried resetting the CMOS.

The weird thing is that it will turn on but even if I hold down the power button it won't turn off unless I unplug it.

My current thought is to take it into a computer store and ask them to look at it, because I Don't have another socket 939 motherboard nor another socket 939 CPU to see if it's one of those parts.

i have the same problem last time.

it was memory compatiblitiy problem, wont boot using tccc and utt but it boot using old school bh5
