For the people that have this setup..how good of overclock are you getting? What kind of memory do you have? Im trying to decide whether to get this board, a EPoX EP-9NP+, or a DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D. I really like the ability to use AGP. Of course i would sell my 6600gt agp on ebay and just get a 6600gt pci-x card but thats just a hastle. I guess the only thing i don't like about this board is it doesn't have 1000 lan. Ya i could always get a 1000 lan card but then it would be pushing the traffic over the pci bus but then again this board is so cheap its almost to tempting. I guess the whole deciding factor is the overclock with the 3800 x2.

thanks,

There are at least three guys who have posted in my thread on the ASRock board in the Motherboards forum who have the board already, one of which I know is using a 3800+ X2 (Rage187, I think). I'm not sure what his overclocking results are, but you may want to PM him (if that is indeed the correct person I'm thinking of ).

Since you still have a quite capable AGP video card, I'd very much recommend the ASRock board instead of going through the hassle of trying to trade up to a PCI-E version of your 6600GT for no performance gain. The only thing that may be holding your overclock is that the voltage options could stand to be improved (and there's a new beta BIOS on the way, but I'm not sure what changes it'll have). However I believe up to 1.55V is still available (though I'm unclear as to whether this is for all processors or just the FX line), which should be enough to get a pretty good overclock on any 90nm CPU, as far as I'm aware.

1.55v is only for FX and 130nm CPUs. You'll be limited to 1.45v (according to anandtech's finding, anyway) with dual-core. Considering that X2s turn into mini-furnaces when you jack up the clock speed and the voltage too much, it might not be an issue to begin with.

MSI Neo2 platinum with a 3800+. And if you don't go over 1.5v they aren;t even as hot as presshotts. I would say that 2600 @1.5v, and 52c max temp with both cores 100% in a sonata and one case fan speaks well of this cpu. Granted I have an XP90, but thats $30 with the fan included.

doohhh no one seems to have this combo yet. I found one guy who has the mb but is waiting on his processor.

I really want this mobo and am trying to convince myself to get a x2 3800, but it won't happen for a few weeks anyways.

If you settle on that combo, be sure to update your results. :)
