ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 HELP

Hacka

Senior member
Hey guys, i just joined this forums becaue it seems like you have some knowledgeable people here. I have been having some problem when i got this new mobo. I used to have DFI infinity with 2400+ mobile and i overclocked that to 2.5-2.6 easily.
I got this mobo 4 days ago and the onboard network did not work for NOTHING, so i went out and bought a NIc card for $20. It runs fine now. 🙂
I have had alot of problems with overclocking... i had my fsb running smooth at 235.. keep in mind i have cheap-o ram. But it was running good but now it seems i can hardly overclock ir otherwise its unstable and my games have horrible 3 second freeze lag 🙁

So i went back to defaults and tweaked the memory settings... maybe they are a lil too low right now... but heres my cpu-z report.

Look at that ^^
FSB😀RAM CPU/17
whats that? lol?
I see no options for the divider in the bios and thats really weird.. i want 1:1 right?

Heres some options i have in my bios.. i would like to know what i should change...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CPU FREQ. 200
PCI-3 FREQ 100
boot failure guard - enabled
spread spectrum - auto
cool n quiet - enabled
Processor multiplier - x10 2000mhz
processor voltage - 1.425v
mem clock - 200mhz (DDR 400)
flexibility option - disabled (i disabled to see if it made a difference.. i dunno)
burst length - 4 beats
cas 3.0
tcrd 3
tras 6
trp 3
ma timings - auto, 1t , 2t
advanced dram config
----read preamble - 9.5ns
----async latency - 11.0ns
cpu-nb link speed - auto
cpu-nb width - auto
nb-sb link speed - auto
nb-sb width - auto
HTT to PCI bridge decode scheme - auto
DRAM voltage - high
gated clock function - disabled

hopefully someone can help me... im a bit confused and the whole HT 1t 2t stuff... i only see that in the "MA timings" option in BIOS.

anyone know the best BIOS to use?

Thanks guys....

We're all too busy pulling this board out and nailing it to a tree in the yard for target practice.

Flexibility option disabled should fix the 133 Mhz problem for you.

First thing you need to do is go read the A64 overclocking guide ,overclocking a socket a mobile chip & a A64 is very different. you need to lower your HTT to 4x or 3x because at 235mhz 5x is too much. also learn about memory deviders. 😉

would be odd to have oc options and no htt options... if using cheap ram u need to be using a divider to drop its speed vs the fsb...

can't just crank the voltage and push up the fsb anymore, it takes a bit of work now...

lots of folks have this board and have gotten good results...

my cpu volts max out at 1.45
my ram only says "default" and "high" voltage settings.

are there any modified bios' ?

ok well i lowered my cpu-nb timings to 600

and i lowered my ram to 133... i still cant get higher than 235 fsb.... NEVER

wtf

You are running PCIe in Async mode (locked at 100) right? If not, you need to do this or your PCI/AGP bus gets overclocked (not good at all).

wtf, tweaknow pwerpack told me i dont have HTT ?

Hypertransport Technology(HTT) = Athlon 64 systems

Just to confuse you.

And as long as you set CPU-PCIe to "Async' and keep PCIe at 100, AGP will also be locked.

Try a low cpu multiplier like 8x or 9x to rule the cpu out. If cpu and RAM are both underclocked and board still won't go above 235, guess you just got unlucky with the board. (Mine does 245 no problem and I never had a need for anything higher)

I have the same mobo there's no options that SAYS HTT. This is why its' so confusing to overclock. All other options renamed as well and no one seem to know how anything about overclocking this board.

You have to read up...this board works wonders for me compared to my MSI Neo2 board. I have 9x274 on my venice....gotta love about 2.5ghz out of a 1.8ghz chip!

becasue i raised it back after i got no fsb gain out of it...

heres a screny of 64 tweaker
