hey everyone, i just bought a used ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 and i can't get it to boot. the power comes on when i hit the power button and everything else does too...however my monitor won't turn on and i here no beeps or anything. i have an athlon 64 3500, 1gb of tccc ram, and an agp x800xl. i'm not sure if there's anything i might be missing, is there any quick tips or something i might've missed?

clearing the cmos...that would be through just setting the jumper? or is it like some mobos i have to hit some button when it's powering on? also, i can't update the bios if it doesn't boot up though.

True, but if it is the cold boot issue then it will boot after hitting the reset button a few times.

As for the CMOS question, not sure, you'd have to read the manual. Different boards do it slightly different ways i guess.

ah, ok, gonna have to try that a little later. however, what kinda issue would i seem to have if i can't shut off the computer by holding down the power button? (having to press the psu button on the back to turn it off).

To clear CMOS, remove the CMOS battery before moving the jumper pin.

"Please unplug the ATX power and remove the battery, use a metal material like paper clip to short the CLRCMOS1 soldering points or CLRCMOS2 jumpers for 3 seconds. After that, install the battery and plug the ATX power back to the motherboard.

Note: Please do not clear the CMOS right after you update the BIOS."

Board was not booting at all. It got power, all fans spun for a sec then nothing.
Used a screwdriver on the power pins on the mobo- board booted into bios with checksum error message. even though i had followed ASRocks procedure prior.

i have similar problems with this board, older bios, 1.20 if i remember right
but it doesn't cold boot, all i get is spinning fans/hds etc, sometimes i see the bios from the gfx card, and then nothing.
What can i do?
