The Parts of this Build:
Asrock 939Dual Sata2-MB BIOS 1.90
AMD64 3700+ 1MB L2
A-Data 2x1gig DDR400 Dual Channel
PowerColor PCI-e X1950 Pro 512MB memory
Audigy2 Value--Sound card
2x WD Sata-1 10k Rpm Raptor 16MB Buffer in RAID-0
Ultra X-Connect Modular 500Watt Power Supply
I originally put this PC together about 3 months ago, but had some Problems, so I've dismantled it and have decided to come here and ask some Installation Tips to hopefully avoid running problems again.
First: The above Parts all ran fine for about 2 Months, then came the Newest Patch of World of Warcraft (WoW) (2.3 i believe it is). Right after the patch I began to get Super High Latency to the WoW Server's. I play on the European WoW servers and live in the US so my Latency is normally around 200, but after the Patch the latency jumped to between 600 to 1300 and at times even higher.
So I pretty much stopped playing WoW and spent my Free Time over at Lotro (Lord of the Rings Online). About 2 weeks later I started getting Video Corruption while playing Lotro.
Then a few days later started noticing a "Lag-Type" problem of the Lotro Character. Holding Down the W Key moves the Toon Forward and then releasing the W Key Normally stops the Toons movement immediately, but nowadays the Toon will continue to move forward after the W Key has been released, the distance the Toon travels on its own depends on how long i had held down the W Key, the longer i had held the W Key the further the Toon will move on it's own after the release.
So I pulled out of "Moth-Balls', my Old-Trusty PC ( Soyo Kt400 Ultra-MB, Amd XP-2400+, 1gig DDR400 (running at DDR333 Btw), EVGA 6800-Vanilla).
The Soyo PC runs WoW just fine, just like it always did before I replaced it with the Asrock PC. Albeit the Soyo still runs WoW alot slower as it always did. Also the Soyo doesn't have any Video Corruption or Lag-Type movement troubles while playing Lotro.
So in essence it definitely points to something wrong with the Asrock PC, But What ?
1 Strange Tid-Bit however: I ran a Tracert with Asrock PC to the WoW Servers before i dismantled the Asrock. The Tracert definitely shows a Problem between my ISP and the WoW Servers ? Ok, but then Why does this Old-Soyo PC run WoW & Lotro just fine when Both PC's use the Same Cable Modem ?
So please some Questions:
Being i run RAID-0 and need to use a Sata-Raid Driver's Floppy Disk prior to Windows install, Do i need to Install any other Sata or HardDrive Drivers after the Windows Install ?
Also: My X1950Pro is a PCI-Express, Do I need to install any AGP Drivers in the PC ?
Other Drivers Questions:
Does the Asrock Motherboard have specific Chipset Drivers that need to be installed ?
Any specific AMD64 Driver needed ?
There is a possibility that some of the Hardware in the Asrock is not getting along with others, Any Opinions ?
1 Possibility that a friend on WoW mentioned is that it could be the Onboard NIC of the Asrock that's causing it ? Opinions ?
Any and All opinions will certainly be welcome.
Thanks
