The AT review on this mobo was favorable, as have several others I have checked, but I was curious if anyone knows of a review that directly compares AGP performance with the same video card on this board and another one? I'm still not completely convinced there isn't some speed penalty.

Reread the AT review. It says the AGP performance is as good or better than the best boards made. So while there might indeed be a speed penalty, it only drops it down to the fastest AGP speed ever seen.

From what I remember seeing, the ULI 1689 AGP is the best ever.

PCI e was in the middle of the pack.

speed-wise maybe but compatibility-wise no. Lots of exotic cards like Kyro and DeltaChrome are problematic...
