Title says it all. Thinking of picking up one of these boards to pair with E6400 or E6600. For now, I will be using my old DDR400 and AGP 7800GS. When I switch to PCI-e and DDRII, I will get a new motherboard as well, so the Dual's support for those technologies isn't a factor in my purchase. Just looking for the faster/more flexible board for use with my existing stuff and a C2D. Thoughts?

The Dual-Vsta can be upgraded to DDR2 and PCI-E, while the 775i65G is limited to DDR and AGP and has a maximum 300FSB lock. The Dual-Vsta probably has a little more o/c options but most users cannot exceed 300FSB due to limitations of the m/b. I think the Dual-Vsta adds Raid also.

I went with the 775i65G due to it having the Intel i865 chipset, rather than the Via chipset in the Dual-Vsta. I had a bad experience with a Via Apollo chipset in an older system and have steered clear since. I would say judging by the comments on these boards, there seems to be some niggling issues and problems with users getting their Dual-Vsta up to speed, while my i65G is rock solid at 300FSB, quad-pumped to 1200, which is very impressive for this older chipset.

Thanks Xvys, since I don't need the PCI-e/DDRII support, I was leaning toward the board with the Intel chipset. Anyone else have thoughts?

Get the 775i65G. The Intel chipset alone makes it a much better board IMO. Mine is also rock solid at 300 fsb using my old DDR and AGP card.

Good to hear... there's so much buzz about the 775Dual-VSTA going around, but I was hesitant to jump on it with its VIA chipset. Definitely feeling better about picking up the 775i65G after these comments

just updated my rig from a A64 3400+ with ECS Nforce4-A754 motherboard to a E6400 and Asrock 775Dual-VSTA. Upgrade went smoothly without any problems. System is 100% stable for the past 1.5 days

I was worried about dealing with VIA chipsets again myself but have been very pleased with my 775Dual-VSTA. It was incredibly simple to set up and has been very stable. I'm able to overclock to 300fsb after tinkering with the settings making my E6400 run at 2.4GHz or E6600 speed. :D

The 775i65G is a Micro ATX board too and I like a fullsized board. :p Also, if you do go with the 775i65G be sure it is a 2.0 revision or later or it won't work with the Conroe. The majority of 775Dual-VSTA boards work right out of the box with Conroe, even with the old bios.

Anyway, my vote is for the 775Dual-VSTA.

I got the 775i65g, but it really depends on what you are gonna use the board for. If you plan to stay long term, go with the VSTA since it has PCI-E and DDR2. If you just want something temporary and plan to upgrade to PCI-E/DDR2 and everything once the dust settles with Conroe and the high-end motherboards, go 775i65g.

For me, the 775i65g performance is slightly better than the VSTA + it's cheaper and I will be upgrading to a full high-end system probably near christmas or early 2007 so I went with the 775i65g. Now if I could only tweak to get a max o/c of 300FSB instead of 290FSB :(

My VSTA runs great with my old ATI AIW 9800 Pro 8x AGP and 1GB DDR333 dual booting XP and Vista RC1. I plan on upgrading to 2GB DDR2 soon.
