I have a E6400 Conroe. With one 512 MB stick of old high quality Corsair 450, I was able to get it very stable on 312 FSB. But with one stick the Sandra memory scores are pretty low. I have since bought two sticks of DDR2.
Here are the settings I used for the DDR1:
Overclock mode Async
DRAM voltage high
IDE drive strength highest
Pipeline DRQCTL - It does not make any difference with one stcik of DDR1. With two sticks of DDR2, I could only get it to boot on DRQCTL enabled.
Set memory speed to 166
Flexibility mode disabled
I suggest at the beginning you leave all the memory timings on Auto.
After I got to 312 FSB, I then started tightening the memory timings. I got them down to 2-2-2-5-1T. Still absolutely rock solid stable.
My sandra score with one stick of DDR1 was 2971/2973
Super Pi (v1.5) score for 1M was 25.594
Dont forget to enable Legacy USB. Otherwise you can not get into Windows safe mode, if you ever need it. (The F8 key won't work.)
