I've been running a Pci-e graphics card and and four Pata HD's and then tried out the two Sata slots on the motherboard and what a difference and do not want to go back to pata but need one more sata HD and bought a Pci-e sata controller card and put a AGP graphics card in the AGP slot and Thought I was going to put in the pci-e controller card and live happilly ever-after. Well when I put the pci-e card in the system with the agp card in the system no boot. Take pci-e controller out machine boots. Take out agp gpu and put back in pci-e gpu machine boots. If I put in both the agp and pci-e gpu's together the system won't boot. Is there anyway to get the Agp and Pci-e slot to work together?

Now my search begins for drivers that may help me get both to work together, I am already using the German modded bios 1.17

I think the German Bios is the only one.

There is a huge thread about these mobos here... you might consider scanning through it.

With the 775Dual-VSTA, I'm pretty sure you couldn't use both AGP and PCIe even if they weren't both GPU devices.

Yea, I've been searching through that huge thread for awhile.
I think a PCI gpu and and a Pci-e device might work together but still doing research on that one.
I have the third sata hard drive and a Esata slot on top of my computer but don't know if that will knock down the speed and would have to find a esata enclosure for the HD.

PS. I'm pretty much leaning on just getting a PCI graphics card and hope that works. Now off to search for a half way decent PCI graphics card.
I want to keep my HD's in their bay with a nice fan blowing on them.

I swear that I saw a forum post (at another forum) a couple years ago about someone running dual graphics cards on a VIA PT880 board via PCI-E and AGP with a modded BIOS (or maybe just a modded driver). I tried to search for it but didn't turn up anything.

PCI GPU and PCIe RAID shouldn't be any problem. If you aren't pushing any real graphics you should be able to find a PCI GPU in FS/T on the cheap (I picked one up for my server for $5).

Just tease a guy why don't you :)
I''ll try high and low to find this modded driver.

I recall seeing an article about mixing AGP and PCIe in SLI using a modded driver on VR-Zone, circa 2007 perhaps. Here is a link I had still lurking in Favorites that leads to a driver that either is the same one or done around that time. The rar is password protected, so contacting the author is needed.

Sleuthing still needed on your part, but it's a start.

Please report any success.

Wasn't VR-Zone ("the" place for volt modding PT880 boards). It was here.

See also here and here. PM for copy of 85.96 modded driver referenced at OCworkbench.

I almost bought a PCIe 7600GT to try this with my existing 7600GT AGP, but then sanity led to a simpler (and faster) upgrade. Still have the itch, just not the budget.

http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/chipsets/p4-series/pt880_ultra/index.jsp

Featuring VIA's revolutionary Universal Graphics Interface (UGI), the VIA PT880 Ultra enables support for the latest generation of PCI Express Graphic cards as well as existing AGP 3.0 graphics cards, providing OEMs, SIs, and end-users much needed flexibility during the transition period. Furthermore, motherboards based on the VIA PT880 Ultra support VIA DualGFX Express, by running both AGP and PCI-Express graphics cards simultaneously, providing the ability to connect to as many as four separate displays.
