I just brought a aspire dreamer 2 case. It's all nice and all, but I didn't find any pc speakers in the case? Can other owners here shed some light?

I did notice a little thingie that looks like a mic that came with the case.
It's between the power cord and the screws. Pictured here
Is that the speaker? It has a 4 pin connector which 2 wires come out of. The wires goes to a cylinder thing. It looks like one of those watch batteries, but in plastic.

Thanks in advance.

drkavnge99 is right. That's a little piezo speaker. The biggest problem is, they aren't very efficient so they aren't very loud. I've replaced them in other systems with the kind of speaker you usually find in computer cases. You can find them for less than $1 - $2. Here's one from All Electronics.

Pros: Inexpensive, fairly well designed airflow, very nice lit up, temp sensor on front with backlight and lots of 3.5" drive slots.
Cons: Powersupply that comes with it sucks (already burned out on me), lots of wires comming from the front, very bright at night, no 90mm fan holes for quiet operation and you will need to be careful with temp probe so not to over heat it.

I personnally love it for a premod and am working on my first true modded case as we speak (qbert from sig). I have 4 fans in the thing right now to cool it not including my antec classic 350W PS 2 fans. Isn't very loud unless you buy the cheap fans mine are all panaflows.

I bought one for my son. The power supply is pretty weak. I chucked it and put in an Enermax 425. He now has an ASUS A7n8X-E Deluxe, 9800 Pro, dual WDM800 SATA drives and a Gig of Corsair XMS 3200 memory. The case is pretty nice, aside from the power supply.

it's decent and good bang-4-buck

pros: no sharp edges (well, i didn't cut myself), plenty of room, decent airflow and looks "sexy" (for cheap). ;)

cons: . . . well it's an asspire with a cheapie PS. :p

the little speaker sux (but you already know this)

PS . . . my generic 350w Turbolink that came with the case gave me no (certain) problems but - in preparation for a 6800U i got a TT 480w (anyway) and the tubbolink is going in a friend's cheap build . . . ;) . . .

The 350w PS can't be any worse than the 300w PS that's in my Inwin Q500a could it??

I am going to need a new case when I goto school in the fall, preferably with a window, but it needs to be cheap, and so the Aspire cases seem to fit the bill. I doubt I need some intense Antec 600000w PS cause the 300w from the Inwin is powering my system without any problems whatsoever (2x256mb ram, mobile Barton @ 2.3ghz, 9800 Pro, 2 hard drives, 2 cd drives). But I don't want to get a crappier PS than the one I got just in case.

edit: I will have to check to make sure, but I think the rail amp ratings are about identical.

This case kicks ass.

Awesome airflow, and its cheap, yet it has a solid steel construction. It shows two 80mm fans in the back, but mine came with a 120mm fan, machined for 80, 92, or 120mm fans.

It also has a motherboard tray.

I won the xdreamer-2 in a lan tourney and its sitting in my garage waiting for the rest of my computer parts.

I was thinking about buying a antec or Lin case but why when i have a free one...

looks pretty nice to me expec with the lights..and its not very heavy

will i need to buy more fans tho?
