Hi guys,

I have a little problem with the sound card on the Aspire 5920g in Win XP. I have installed most of the Realtek drivers I could find from V.1.70 to V.2.22 (or something high like that) and nothing. Does anyone know the exact sound card model for this laptop (device manager tells you nothing).

Anyhow, the sound card worked fine under Vista. I also tried the 'proper' Acer sound card drivers 'compatible' with XP, downloaded from the Acer site (yeah... wishful thinking).

I need help! This is the last missing piece to this perfect little laptop! :)

Cheers!

EDIT: by searching the web I found that the sound drivers require DX 8.1 or newer. I am not sure what a stock SP2 version of XP has. I am going to install DX 9c tonight and see what happens.

Okay, I have installed DX9 and still nothing. Also, I have reinstalled Realtek drivers from versions 1.70 to 1.84 - still nothing. Anyone?

Got it fixed. So in order to have sound in Win XP on Aspire 5920g you need to do the following:

1. make sure you got DX9c and Win XP SP2
2. Google for UAA audio drivers - my were from an HP site (those drivers should be computer 'neutral')
3. Install Realtek drivers (newer the better... I have 1.84) AFTER you install the UAA drivers.

Cheers!

I hope this helps for the rest of you.
