Aspire 2010!! urgent

Hi people, ive come across a big problem with my acer aspire 2010 as of yesterday. I found the laptop to be running really slowly during the day at which point ive reset it only for it too boot up with a black screen saying "Disk error press any key to restart" After this ive tried to boot from multiple cds with the error "No bootable cd in atapi cd rom" ive used genuine xp cd plus a few others without any luck, set bios to default and still the same thing. Any ideas? should i mention too the drive still shows in the bios

Time to shop for a replacment. Sounds like you may have a failyer in the main board. At its age its not worth putting any money into it to fix it.

wow, how old is that thing? i looked online and saw a reference to it back in 2004

Yeh about that time frame times flys hey lol, I just hope im able to recover whats on the drive, then it wont be so much of a worry.

Pull the drive from the unit and get an enclosure for it. You can plug it into your PC and pull all the files off you need so long as teh drive hasn't crashed. If it has crashed then you have learned the hard way why you need to maintain a current backup of all your information.
