When I try to use 3rd-party software on my comp to rip some of my CDs or whatnot, they either can't identify any of my optical drives, or only identify one of them (one or the other - DVD or CD/RW)

I tried another one today, and it told me "ASPI may not be set up properly".

Is there any way to fix this short of a reinstall of windows?

might I mention that all programs that access the optical drives through Windows (Explorer.exe) can do it fine?

i'd also remove the optical drives and ide controller from device manager and reboot.

(I included the other time stamp information just in case it would be useful)
it tells me ASPI is properly set up and functional...

I'm going to try the restart in a moment, but I dunno how well that will work.
