I have AudioCatalyst 2.1 installed on Win2k. The only option it gives me for ripping is analog. When I used AudioCatalyst in Win98 SE I was able to rip using ASPI drivers. What do I do?

I went to Xing's website and found out that AudioCatalyst isn't supported in Win2000. I'd like a good ripper/encoder that supports ASPI and high bitrate encoding. I have MusicMatch, but I might have to upgrade for bitrates higher than 160kbps.

Both Nero and Adaptec have ASPI layers that you can download and force.

Xing says AudioCatalyst won't work on XP also. Works just fine once ASPI is forced.

You have to be logged in with Admin priviledges to use ASPI CD ripping in Windows 2000. I know that because I have to use RunAs, then the Admin password to get it. As I'm sure you all know, it's not a good idea to use the admin account on a day-to-day basis...
