Aspercreme, Icy Hot, and Ibuprofen

Hey all,

I've been fighting through tendonitis in my left hand for quite some time now. It seems to be on its way out (thank god!), but in the meantime my occupational duties do like to flare it up from time to time.

As doctor advised, I've been taking TONS of ibuprofen for awhile now, but the doctor also told me that I shouldn't take that dosage for more than a couple weeks at a time (all the side effects, etc).

So, I was using Icy Hot for quite awhile as a replacement, but someone recommended Aspercreme. They say aspercreme actually has a topical anti-inflammatory in it (which would be ideal), whereas Icy Hot just makes it temporarily "feel" better by using menthol.

So that's basically my question: is Aspercreme and anti-inflammatory, where Icy Hot is not?

Well, the issue isn't so much "does it feel good", I just want to know if aspercreme acts as an anti-inflammatory instead of just numbing/dulling agent.

Well, first things first - at least try and spell things correctly in your posts - Ibuprofen!
Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory and will do more than any topical anti-inflammatory agent. Aspercreme may have a bit of anti-inflam in it, but it is created from aspirin, and aspirin is not the greatest anti-inflam, ibu is much better.
Why are you only on ibuprofen though? Its not a good idea to be on high doses of ibu for anything longer than about 10 days or so as it can lead to stomach problems. There are plenty of other cheap anti-inflams available by rx, since your doc is telling you to use the ibu, might as well get something better from them.

I'll cut you a deal: I'll check my spelling more carefully if you read my posts more carefully before replying to them. ;) (take it with a smile, i'm just joking around). But yes, I know ibu is bad in high doses for a long period of time, thus the purpose of this post in the first place.
