Asparagus question

MX2

Lifer
I enjoy roasted asparagus with a hint of garlic from time to time. Why does it affect the smell of urine to such a strong degree? Is it bad for your kidneys to eat too much?

it has a sulfur compound called mercaptan. when your body breaks it down, it releases the smell as a byproduct.

hammer, you will get a bad reputation if you provide a good/useful answer so quickly/too often

Let me get this right. Is your nose in a different room when you use the bathroom?

yes, my penus is 10' long so i have to hire a person to carry it to the bathroom and use it like a firehose.

Personally, I enjoyed a mature and logical response so soon.

Interesting fact : It doesnt change the smell of urine for everyone... only if you have a gene that does it... 🙂

mine smells the same 😕

i knew i was missing something...DOH!

god didn't give me the funny-smelling-urine-after-asparagus gene 🙁:brokenheart:

My recipe...

After thorughly washing and breaking the stalks at the weak point. Arrange in 9x12 pan (try to keep it to one layer)with a bit of olive oil and sprinkled garlic powder. Roast in oven at 350-400 coverd with foil for 10 min. Remove foil and cook an additional 10 min till asparagus just barely starts to crisp at the ends. Yum😀

Interesting fact:
It does change the smell of urine for everyone, but some people don't have the ability to smell it.
