ASP type applications not working

So.... I am on newegg.com, and I do a search it won't work... I try to log in, it won't work. Anything I try to do on my firefox browser that is related to .asp coding it just simply will not work. I then loaded up Internet Explorer :( But on internet explorer it won't work either.

Funny thing is... the other day I went to make a check out payment on ebay, the payment had to be made outside of ebay through a different card vendor, and it had a checkout button, that loaded up javascript:(something....) and then I could see that it went to a asp type application, but it would never load for me. I asked a friend to click and see if it worked for him. It worked fine for him....

So... I need some help... anyone have any idea or fixes as to why this is happening??

Thanks!

asp is a server side language. that is, all the code gets processed on the server, then the results are sent to your pc.

your problem has nothing to do with asp pages.

try clearing your cache, run a virus scanner, an adware scanner and rebooting your pc.

I tried doing all of what you said, and sadly it did not work. :(

Are there any other possible solutions?

I use Firefox as my main browser.

ASP requires client-side javascript. So you might start there and make sure that it isn't disabled for that site, or generally.

While sites are free to use it, asp certainly doesnt require it.

it is weird how I have searched the net, and cannot find a solution. I hope I don't have to reformat my computer. :(

Try reinstalling FF. You can also try using a better browser... Opera :)

That's true, if you are referring to generating straight HTML with no form submission. I leaped a step there.

You might try a System Restore back to when it was working. Also, check the system time, date/month and year (maybe a dumb suggestion, I'm not a programmer).

ASP even used with form submission, does not require client side javascript.

I have a feeling you guys are playing with me :). Yeah, you can code up a form and submit it to an ASP page without using any javascript, but the average asp.net page calls __doPostback() to handle postbacks, doesn't it? That looks like javascript to me.

I have tried the following solutions, with out much success.

1) Tested on Internet Explorer.
2) Tested on Opera.
3) Checked to see if javascript was enabled. [which offcourse it was]
4) Reinstalled Firefox...
5) Checked for spyware
6) Checked for viruses

Anyone have any other solutions? Or hypothesis why it is not working.....

Could it be that my ISP is blocking the connections? I have verizon dsl, so I couldn't imagine that they would do something like that.

uninstall/reinstall java client

connect directly to the DSL modem

open up security on IE (put the sites into the "trusted" zones)

Well after trying everything here, and everything that I know.

I finally just decided to go ahead and reformat.

I reformatted, and now everything is working fine. It still would have been nice to have figured it out without reformatting, that way we would know for sure what the problem was, but lets just hope it stays working ;) Im pretty sure it will though hehe

Thanks for all the help guys!

Sincerely,
Jean Costa
