asp.net DDL population: databind() or iterate?

I've always liked the flexibility involved in iterating through a datatable's rows collection and creating listitems to insert into a dropdownlist. Blame it on too much asp3 coding in the past i guess. Wondering if other people prefer DDL databinding and what their experiences are with it.

Seems like it'd be simpler and likely faster to use the built in Databinding don't you think? Why reinvent the wheel?

Exactly my thoughts. With the use of Dataviews, datatable.select, and a few others theres not really a point in iterating through yourself.
