I have a Maxtor 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache sitting in a Coolmax. After running it for more than 4-5 hours I touched the outside of the enclosure. OUCH! It?s hot. I check if I could add some internal cooling, but no room. I was thinking about adding a slim hd coolerto the outside, but don?t know how to power it.

Can anyone offer some solution how I could power this once it's outside my enlclosure?

My mod/cooling Idea would be to use two of these slim hd coolers, one on ether side. Add a blue led for each fan and run the power to lines to? To what is my questions? Anyone know of an external molex or molex to power adapter or usb or....

Thanks,

Seeing as there is already a molex power plug in the inside of the case (obviously for power the hard drive with) what I would do is find a way to connect the wires off another hard drive cooler to the wires that power your hard drive with.

My external drive unit has a built in fan which gets some air out of the enclousure but then again the hard drive is only a 5400 speed so it doesn't get that hot.

I don't know how much room you have inside the case as I couldn't find any decent specs on the enclosure to see if you could fit a slimline hard drive cooler inside the case and then possibly drill some holes for ventilation.
