Hey all, Im putting together a new system out of some extra parts and wanted you all to recommend a card for me. On this computer, Im interested in watching tv and recording if possible. However, before you all say the ati all in wonder, I tried it. And tried it. And tried it. The card wouldnt play nice and would crash within a few seconds of any real workout.

Side note: Im not really into 3d gaming, so I dont need something blistering. Just powerful enough to play half-life single player if I wanted.

Should I go for seperate video and tv cards? Id like to keep the total cost of this part below $150, so recommend away! Thanks!

I would recommend that you buy a cheap card like a 16 meg ati xpert or along those lines, then buy the ati tv wonder seperately. That combo seems to work better than having everything on the all-in-wonder.

That sounds good....I wish I had gotten in on that hdtv receiver deal last week. That, paired with a radeon le, would have been almost as cheap and quite powerful to boot.

I'd probably get a Radeon LE so you have good 2d quality too if you care about that. That leaves about $70 for the tv card, don't know how much those cost.

But hell you could snag a V3 2000 even since those could be had for quite cheap on the FS/FT forum.
