I was interested in their 5200, but all the review sites I read said their 2D was poor. Something to watch out for on their other products.

Can someone who owns Prolink video card gives some comments on 2D image quality ?

I am interested in its FX5200 too because it's clocked at 275/500 vs 250/400MHZ(standard).

Both Digit-Life and Darkcrow reviewed the Prolink 5200, and both noted it had bad 2D quality. It's certainly fast, though. Perhaps you can get around the bad 2D quality by using a DVi-VGA adapter on its DVI out?

OTOH, their 5600 has good quality 2D, so maybe the bad 5200 2D was due to early review samples. Hopefully that's the case, because then their 5200 becomes a very good deal.

Their FX5600 VIVO package has some good pricing at a couple of USA e-tailers. Their VIO dongle also has longer leads than MSI or ASUS. I just don't want to make a commitment to inferior image quality or performance. . . .

I own 2 Prolinks. Current one is a GF4 MX420.

2d quality, dont know. Not too bad, but then again I haven't really anything to compare to, and I am using a 17"crt Daewoo.

Well, the 5600 is around the price of a 9600P, to which it'll certainly lose in performance. The 5600 should have overall slightly better AF, but the 9600P will have much better AA (except for maybe 4xS, but the 5600 will be very slow in that mode). But I haven't yet seen a VIVO 9600P for sale (though a few OEM's seem to have some in the works), so if it's VIVO you need, a 5600 may be your best bet for now.

As for the 2D issue, I think you may sidestep that if you use a DVI-VGA adapter with the Prolinks. This assumes they have DVI-I connectors, and that you won't need dual VGA outs (or at least that the 2D quality of one VGA out won't be important).

I'm interested to know if anyone owns a Prolink 5200 and finds the 2D good, as it's a pretty good deal for a 128MB card.
