Asking For Trouble Buying Refurb LCD?

I've had some success in the past buying some refurb components, but I'm a little reluctant to get a refurb LCD --- I'm afraid I'll just get someone else's dead pixel problem. Nonetheless, I'm seriously thinking about getting a Samsung 172X as a refurb -- too expensive otherwise. Do you think it's worth taking a chance, or should i just wait until I can afford a new one which is about $60-$70 more shipped?

Is this a reputable company? Do they have a legitimate return policy? I think if you trust the company and like the return policy, then go for it. If either one of those conidtions are not to your liking, then I think you should just pay the extra money. I am in the same debate right now, BTW.

Yep, good company w/ easy RMA. I'm just wondering, if for example, someone RMA's an LCD because it had a dead pixel or two, but maybe less than five, or whatever the minimum is for it to qualify as being defective --- do they fix it, or just sell it as a refurb since technically it doesn't qualify as being defective?

I've been wondering this exact same thing...

I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experience with a refurbished LCD, good or bad.,

You could always call the company and ask them... It'd be VERY dishonest to accept an RMA, confirming that the product had manufacturing defects (why else would it be RMA?), and then resell it without repairing the defect. I don't even know if that would be legal.

Why not, as long as they tell you there is a problem, its full disclosure.

Besides, you can't repair dead pixels. What they can't do it sell it like new...thats illegal.
