HI all, here's my story:

I'm running a home file server on an old p2-300, and in terms of cpu power it's more than enough. The problem is I have more ide drives than availible channels, so i'm using promise pci ide controllers which are causing me a lot of headaches. I'd like to upgrade my server to either an athlon or a p3, one whose board has as many onboard ide channels (4? maybee 6? or more?) as possible. I'm not looking to spend to much money and i don't require a lot of processing power for my applications. Oh yeah, all of my drives are paralell ATA, 3 x WD 200 gig drives, and a few misc 40s and 60s

Thanks a bunch,
Nick

i can't afford scsi, IDE media is nice and affordable, esp w/ some of the deals i find around here (200 gig drive for $100 or less). I thought about ide to scsi adapters, but from what I can find those are 70$ a pop and i still need to get a scsi card or motherboard with scsi support
