asking for password in win2k

NeoSolo

Senior member
I have LAN setup.

1 win98
1 win2k
1 router switch.

I am trying to transfer file from win98 to win2k.

I can see the win2k computer from win98 but I cannot get into win2k computer.
file shareing has been enabled in win2k

It is asking for password?
How do i get rid of this? or where do i set the password?

another thing is.
win2k does not see win98 computer.. hmm. how can this be? when i can see other way around..

anyhelp

thanks in advance

You need to add the user on the win98 machine as a user on the Win2k machine.

So, say you logged on the win98 machine as "bob" with a password of "bob", you need to set up that same user on the win2k machine before you get access to the drives.

Yup. And don't be tempted to leave a password for Bob out of the 2k setup; I've found that 2k gets annoyed by this and won't let you through (sometimes, sometimes not - still not sure why).

and if you dont log in with a user name, just enable guest account in w2k and nothing else, no user to manage
