Asking for help troubleshooting minor (yet annoying) glitches in my video performance.

Northwood P4 3.0 GHz (800 MHz FSB)
PNY 6800 GT
1 GB of DDR 400

I have installed latest drivers on everything relevant. All videocard settings are set to default. Nothing is overclocked. Video card maxes at about 70 degrees celcius when stressed.

I had a 9800 Pro and swapped in the 6800 GT in place of it. I tried playing Doom 3, and it looks wonderful. However, when I move around, there are these frequently-occuring instances where the the video contains some odd artifacts. It happens for a split second, but it happens often, which makes it very annoying. It's like the video gets segmented and misaligned and has to fix itself. Almost like fragments of the picture are mildly scrambled. This only happens when looking around. Everything looks perfect when stationary. I've noticed that this happens more often when there are objects in the foreground (which is almost constantly in Doom 3).

So then I thought I'd test out some other things. Happens occasionally in Vice City, and even in the HL2 Bink videos(!).

I'm a novice at troubleshooting such things, and I don't know where to start. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

PS - I am only using a 250W PSU, but I thought I read on here that if that would need replacing, the symptoms would be random reboots, or drops back to the desktop, etc. That sort of thing. Not faults in the video performance.

Aye - thanks much. That took care of the problem in Doom and Vice City. They both play extremely well now. Why the hell is that off by default? Do most people suffer from having that on or something?

Also, the "tearing" in the HL2 Bink video is still present. I'm guessing that is from the machine that the video was ripped from, and not mine?
