I wasn't sure which forum to post this in.

I don't want any more physical books, mainly due to space constraints, but also due to it being a lot more handy just being able to pull out my phone and read wherever.

Is there an easy way of getting people who aren't technically inclined to get a compatible ebook present? I don't particularly want to limit people to say the Kindle format (my phone can read it and I can convert it to an open format, which I do, as I am doing my utmost to avoid lock-in). I suppose if people know an easy way of unlocking other particular 'locked-in' file formats, I could list those vendors as well.

Google Play gift cards? iTunes gift cards?

Yea, some kind of gift card. Either that, or ask for donations to InternetArchive or ProjectGutenberg and find your own damned books.

@ DaTT

Do you know how to convert ebooks from GPB or iTunes to an open format?

No clue. But can't you also buy ebooks from amazon?

*bump* I'm wondering if anyone here has any experiences or tips along the lines of what I asked originally (vendors of open format ebooks, or easily convertible ones).
