if i work at my current workplace this summer, would it be bad to ask for a raise? i work at a local country club as a lifeguard, and i've been making 7.50 since i started there. i started there last august and i've been working there consistently since. would asking for a raise to 8.00 or 8.50 be a bad idea?

I need to ask for a raise so bad... Just gotta pick a time when work is busy and not light.. I think what I do I am worth more than what I get for sure. You probably deserve a raise too.

I think you are entitled to a raise. You have more experience for one thing since this is your 2nd year and the cost of living has gone up in a year, though not by much.

You: Excuse me, but I'd like to discuss the possibility of my getting a raise.
Boss: Uh..well, sure! I can look into that. Where do you sit?
You: I'm in cubicle 34.
Boss: Fine, I'll get working on it right now.

You return to your desk to find that maintenance has built a 4" platform under your chair.

The boss pokes his head around the corner and asks "How do you like your raise?" Then he walks away with maniacal laughter.

This is a nightmare I had once LOL. Good luck with the raise. :)

Wait till someone is drowning then ask or ask right after you save someone...

I got a $4000 raise 2 weeks ago, bling bling.

Oh, and a $2000 bonus 2 months ago, bling bling again. :)

Ask away, the worst they can do is say no.
