Aside from the iPhone

well the thing is i don't really have any restrictions because i will be looking for a new cell phone plan and i can go with any provider or on the other hand i can also go unlocked.

The Nokia 5800 was built for music. Even the stylus looks like a guitar pick. Awesome phone. The North American versions had some problems initially, but I think they have fixed all the problems.

Treo Pro on Sprint then. Well, I guess that depends on your coverage area though.

IMO the music players on phones suck except for the iphone. I mean I don't like apple mp3 players but for phones I don't think it's been beat.

I'll agree with Uli2000 - the Nokia XpressMusic 5800 is very nice for music and has a 3.5mm jack. Touchscreen (3.2" 640x360) display.

The Sony-Ericsson W350A "Walkman phone" is also pretty good.

but lacks a 3.5mm jack.

The Blackberry 8300-series has a 3.5mm jack. The Blackberry Bold 9000 also has a 3.5mm jack. According to reviewers the application for music is "fairly plain", but I think that's a bit harsh. You get album thumbnails and can sort by song and genre... it may be plain but it has everything I want.

i'm not sure if any of the newer walkman phones have 3.5mm jacks, but the music interface is very good

Agreed, I played with the SE 760 the other day and found the interface to be quite pleasing to use.
