If such a difference exists (and I've never noticed it) I find it hard to believe it wouldn't vary greatly by national culture/ethnicity. I have heard different East Asian ethnicities stereotyping each other about things like tidiness and littering, if there is any such difference at all, I'd guess this would probably be similar.

It is no culture thing. Most people are just not aware what the effect is of slamming doors.
It is mostly an emotional thing, something bothering them and unknowingly slamming the door or they are just tired and what to leave quickly.
I tend to close doors at a normal way or silently but that is just how i am. No need to make more noise than necessary.

Not sure if I noticed this as a korean.

The door shutting ability of asians i witness over decades are about the same.

This goes for both Asian FOBs and Asian Americans.

US would be utterly embarrassed at NY metro is compared to Asia.

Subway stations on Asia are super clean, upscale, even comes within seconds of the target time.

Everywhere in Asia? It's a very big place. Dunno, no expert, but I don't recall the streets of Bombay being exactly spotless, for example (spotted more than a few rats - I'm happy to acknowledge that London isn't great in that respect, but then half the population are foreign born so not sure who you blame for that - it takes a concerted multi-national effort to make streets as littered as this).

Beijing was clean enough for what appeared to be a permanent building site (though many of the public loos left an awful lot to be desired). And a Chinese acquaintance who visited North Korea was very impressed with how 'clean' it was (oddly, that was the only observation he had to offer). I just have slightly gotten the impression that Koreans are regarded as tidier than Chinese. Ideas about noise I would guess vary by local culture as well, hence door-closing protocol might vary.

Anyway, it's a dodgy discussion, stereotypes are inflammatory and rarely accurate. I already know who the noisiest door slammers in the world are - they are my neighbors.

Is this like..within your limited scope of people? I mean, it seems pretty much like saying asians are bad drivers.

I bet OP is 50 years old or more. Maybe at work he finally met some Asians in person, so OP paid extra attention to them. They look so different... just like OP saw them on Fox News once. Wow, OP obseved that they all clean up so well. Such Asians. Wow. OP is thinking about taking them out to Panda Express for lunch. That'll show them our hospitality.

I always gently close the door, because I hate slamming noises, and you never know which doors are loose or whatever and will just slam shut really loud.

I am not asian, like, At. All.

It's all about culture. Most Americans probably don't give a damn so they slam doors, pee on toilet seats, and refuse to zipper merge. Some of us are OK, though.

The Asian culture from what I've learned is based largely off of respect. It could be seen as a sign of disrespect to slam doors and just generally make yourself a nuisance to others.

After doing crack with a guy for a year straight..this man was super-paranoid. I learned to close doors and cupboards ever so quietly. It's stuck with me for over 20 years now.
you don't want to see a jacked up newfie with a baseball bat after a hit of crack.

On a positive note because of that period of your life, you don't have to worry about those pesky gag reflexes anymore.
