I beta tested both, and actually subscribed to Everquest for a year after release.

To be honest, they are both fun and addicting games. But to be honest, given enough time, I grew bored of both. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say that EverQuest is by far the more enjoyable of the 2.

Of course EQ stays closer to the D&D type of game that I enjoy, so I am a little biased.

Wait a little while until Interplay releases Neverwinters Night. Gonna be the best.

First I would like to say since you never played an online rpg, the genre is very addictive. Either game will give you a good taste of what an online rpg has to offer you.

I personally think AC sucks, it wasn't really well thought out and there are definately many features lacking in the game.

LOL...well thats true for just about every game. AC is always being improved with monthly updates. how many other games can say that?

ALL online rpg games are constantly improved. AC just has an evolving storyline each month, but AC has many limitations. Don?t expect to participate in any of the monthly events until you are at least level 50, even though sometimes there are exceptions to this rule. AC could have been a lot better, but right now AC still have many many problems that the developers are not addressing.

I played EQ for some weeks and participated in the AC beta test, and I must say I prefered AC. The skill and experience system is extremely cool, I'd love to see a similar implementation in more games. Keep in mind that this is not a very in-depth look, you can't get any in-depth experience in an MMORPG in mere weeks.

Anyway, NWN (btw, it's by Bioware - Interplay is the publisher, not the developer) will definitively be a very cool game, and it keeps one of the top spots in my most-wanted list. However, I wouldn't call NWN a MMORPG, as it's not a persistant world (at least not in the way of the current MMORPGs), and with a typical game size of 6 people, it's hardly massivly multiplayer.
