I was in at Beta0 and played a bit.

Couldn't ever log in during Beta1. :(

FINALLY got back in this morning and so much has changed! It's almost playable. :)

Yes, Asheron's Call 2..

Personally, I think AC1 was the best MMORPG of that generation. I've been playing it for over 2 1/2 years!

The graphics are much improved. It seems as though they kinda copied the UI from DAOC. (I never really played DAOC, but I watched some friends play it).

I haven't really gotten far enough to try out all the skills or quests.

Asheron's Call has got to be one of the most adicting games. I played for 2 years and finally gave it up last feburary, sold my guy for $450!! :D Anyway, I haven't decided if I'm going to be playing AC 2, I don't want to become the mindless drone that I was while playing AC 1, it's that addictive :)

Any resemblence to DAoC is bad! My posts at the Vault under the same nick express my feelings about that game and developer. I kept telling people if they played that POS that other companies would think they kept playing because it was a great game and would at least partially emulate it. They told me to stop flaming and shut up and whatnot. Anyway, I was, obviously, right.

A year ago hundreds of us were screaming on the vault boards for critical changes to the game. Most of us quit. Now, a year later, the devs are finally catching on. That's re-damn-diculous.

Anyway, screw all you crack addicts who kept playing DAoC just cause you needed something to play to avoid the reality of your pathetic lives. You've made the MMORPG market that much less innovative and original and proved to the devs that we expect little to nothing from them. Grats.

It's only a little bit of the UI.....

The skill system *MAY* resemble DAOC, but like I said I never actually played DAOC.

did mythic kick your dog or something? jeez... its not like any mmorpg has come out to rival the breadth of play of UO yet... SWG might, and thats only because its the same lead designer.

AC was good? All i ever heard was it was suck and that everquest and UO ruled. Never tried any of them but I would like too sometime. Maybe Ill give AC2 a try? Im beta testing a space based MMORPG right now and it really is suck. Its just so boring.

Yup is still IS good too!

I had several friends that tried Everquest, DAOC, WWII:eek:nline.... In the end, ALL came back to AC.

The dynamic world just rules. New stuff every month. Progressive storyline.....

That's my problem. I played UO for over three years. I left with immense fondness for the game and many memories I still recall and talk about today. Every other game I've left has been out of genuine and utter disgust. What pisses me off is that games are supposed to get better over time. DAoC was, technically, a second generation MMORPG so it should have done everything its predessesors did and ADD to it. Rather than improve upon what already existed they figured out, based on the fcat that there would be no competition for at least a year and a half, that they could be successful by just presenting a working and stable MMORPG and proceeded to slap this thing together in under a year. The fact that such an undeniably shallow game could be successful tells other MMORPG developers that those who will be playing their games are the lowest denominator in the video game market...the jobless, friendless player who just wants any kind of persistent reward for repetitive behavior and their continued devotion.

I share the same optimism towards SWG solely because Raph Koster is the lead designer. Were it not for him and SWG I'd have written off MMORPGs as just for dorks with nothing better to do.

well i'm hoping blizzard does something spectucular as well (when was the last time they put out a bad game?)

daoc is remarkably like quake... you run around killing people, you die, you get rezzed, and do it again. except it takes a good 3 weeks of real time to get up to where you can be effective killing other people, and then only if you picked the right class back when you started.
