I wouldn't trust Ashcroft and Tenet at all. I think they are seriously the most dangerous people in the government today.

I guess this isn't such a huge surprise. Even the evidence that supported the whole WMD claim was very questionable and was most likey fake when Bush decided to tell us that they were trying to obtain "nucular" material from Africa. Seems one thing this administration is great at is believing just about anything. Most people are not even this gulible.

Too stupid. Why is this guy still the AG? Why is Mueller still working anywhere except McDonald's?

If they can't tell the difference between BS and something with substance how are we any safer?

In fact, doesn't this sort of thing suggest we are LESS safe because they will probably miss the signs of a REAL planned attack. This is just so boneheaded...and scary.

Where are the Bush apologists? Whacking off again? :)

Meanwhile, Secretary Ridge says, "Huh? What terror threat?"
They really should get their "strategies" straight....

?The only thing they haven't claimed credit for recently is the cicada invasion of Washington,? said expert Roger Cressey, former chief of staff of the critical infrastructure protection board at the White House and now an analyst for NBC News. Cressey also served as deputy to former counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke.

A senior U.S. intelligence official previously told NBC News that this group has no known operational capability and may be no more than one man with a fax machine.

LOL. Good stuff.

Please, please, please let some of the Sean Hannity fanatics (he said yesterday what a great job ASScroft is doing) chime in here...

This 'source' is literally a laughting stock - they took credit for the blackout in the US last year, among other things....please come in and tell us what a great job this administration is doing in the war on terror - I feel so much more secure, knowing that countless hours and a very public press conference with the US AG and the head of the FBI standing there telling us that a joke of a source was what promted this latest "terror warning"

Great stuff.

God help us all.

Shrug.

It's a no-win situation.

They say nothing, and an attack occurs - "What did you know!? When did you know it?!"

They say something, and an attack occurs - "Why didn't you try harder to stop it!"

They say something, and no attack occurs - "Your intelligence is flawed!"

Seems like the best thing that could happen would be for them to say nothing, and nothing end up happening. Would that make y'all happy?

Do you deny that nothing the Bush administration could do would make most any of the people on this forum happy? Hell, they could hire hookers, have them delivered to your doors, and have them service you free of charge and half the people on here would grumble. "Damn Bush! The Republican next door got a better looking hooker than I did!"

Let's put it this way. The people of Missouri, who are heavily in favor of Republicans (except the KC, St. Louis area), elected a widow with no direct political experience over Ashcroft. We all here have learned what kind of person he is and when I heard he was nominated to by Attorney General, I shuddered. The country would've been better off with him as a Senator, because at least he only counted as one vote.

How about they get a credible source for once and prevent an attack from happening instead of telling us some of us are gonna die?

From my perspective, the best thing that could happen (for the U.S.) is to have GWB resign along with the top shelf of his administration.

Later to be prosecuted for crimes and misdemeanors.

At the very least--stop lying to us!

How horrible is this corruption.

Well .. even a stopped clock is right twice a day. OK... once a day if it's a 24 hr clock.. but, it is spot on at least once... and a clock don't even know what it is doing.. just like the current Administration..

I have a question. Would a major US city getting nuked into a radioactive wasteland shut you guys up long enough to take the terrorism threat seriously for a little while? Maybe for a couple of weeks at least would you then try to join in and help instead of clubbing everyone over the head that makes an effort? I know you don't care any more about the 3000 that were murdered on 9/11, other than exploiting their deaths as ammunition to assault the government with, so there's no use begging you to honor their memories in some tiny way by placing the blame for their deaths on the terrorists that killed them, so whats it going to take to get you to do your part as an American? How many more must die a horrible death before you will lay down your clubs and pick up your swords and join in the fight? Ten thousand? A million? Would that be enough?

So, are you saying that false information and distorting intelligence is a good thing?

It's important to know who your enemy is, if you are willing to trust false information you will run around chasing ghosts while your enemy prepares himself for his next move. False information is worse than NO information.

No, I'm not willing to trust false information. I do however realize that false information is just part of the process and as long as we GET the information out there and are then able to determine its unreliable and can move on where's the harm? I'd much rather hear it ALL, the good and the bad, than to not hear information reported unless its 100% rock solid guaranteed because doing it that way half us would be dead waiting on confirmation. I'm sick to death of the people that act like fighting a war is an exact science. Its not. Its sloppy as hell. Always has been, always will be.
