The California-based Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights said for $26 each it was able to purchase the Social Security numbers and home addresses for Tenet, Ashcroft and other top Bush administration officials, including Karl Rove, the president's chief political adviser.

That illustrates the need for stronger protections of personal information, the group said.

 
Sadly it's really not that hard to get this info about someone.
Heck, when I started college our SSN was in our email address.

Mine is in my bluecross health card, so if I ever have my wallet stolen somebody has my address and SSN

even scarier is the fact that for a couple of bucks, certain websites will give you a person's ssn, address, list of previous addresses, any kind of info you want. I dont see how this is legal, but it seems as though it is
