Asante Router better than Netgear and linksys?

At least that's what they claim:
Advanced security: Log intrusion attemps, ports open on-demand, group security, physical security, backup modem port, print server and performce (best, slowest being the netgear) So I would like to know if by experience there is some truth to that or if it's just maketing...(they comparing to the RT311 and the befsr41)

I just ordered my Netgear Router... after looking and reading for countless hours...

You can go to practically networked and they have a good comparison chart of all the routers of they can and can't do and what each has for features etc etc

I hope I made a good choice lol 🙂

Thecandyman: Well on the sheet they comparing the asante to the netgear and linksys, they proclaming that all of the characteristics I listed are not features of the two other routers. I've always used Netgear products and been pretty happy with them. I was just curious if anyone has an experience with asante

Fatz: You did make a good choice. I had had some problems with the linksys and ADSL but the netgear has always been rock stable.

I have the BEFSR41

Log intrusion attempts: the linksys can do this, but you have to grab a recent firmware release to get it.
Ports open on demand: this would be a neat feature
group security, physical security: not sure what these mean
backup modem port: this wouldn't do me any good at all, but it's a feature that could be useful and that the linksys doesn't have
print server: again, it's not something that I could/would use, but it's a useful feature not found on the BEFSR41
performance: I don't know that I'd trust their data on this.

Netgear doesn't have port open on demand, which is something I'd like to have.. and the backup modem port is very useful in a business enviroment..

I think the Barricade has most of the feature, but I'm not sure the cost difference..

I think the SMC barricade and an Assante model ( as well as a D-link) come from the same OEM. The distinguishing feature of the SMC, which makes it stand out from the rest, is the built in print server plus the price is the same as competing products without it.
By the way, I use Netgear.

Thanks Dark...

I hope I get a good thing...Searched to long and hard on this for a router...

Linksys's price looked nice, but comparing it o at Practically Networked on thier chart... Netgear just looked better...

Anyways..should be here by Friday lol...
then it will be like a little kid getting a new toy lol..
woohooo🙂
