I've noticed recently that my 8800GTS gets up to 85C at full load (and even reached 89C once) whereas before it would only get to about 77-80C with ambients about 25C in both cases and the same overclock. There is no instability at 85C but I still don't like those temps. Oh and idle is 58C and the fan is set constantly to 80%.

Has anyone ever tried putting some Arctic Silver 5 or Ceramique for their 8800?? Has it made much of a difference??

I haven't gamed much recently...would the stock TIM break down if it doesn't get heated up every so often??

You could shave off a few degrees, at best. In the end it's not worth it. You'll have to live with it, the G80 was designed to run at high temperatures and won't have any problems, plus, all the heat is being exhausted directly out of the case so it won't affect anything else in your case.

Agreed. I'd work on your case ventilation more than trying to replace the TIM on your graphics card to improve temps. Maybe even run your card fan at 99% when gaming.

Or, the best way to shave off the temps is by buying a PCI slot fan.

e.g Link or cheaper ones

Because some of hot air is being dumped ouf of the grills near the end of the card. Note that people are seeing alot of temp drops from doing this.

I had a slot blower, but i dropped an extra 5-10C at load by blowing it out with a fan closer to the vents. It actually blows some of the air back through the vents and out the video slot. The slot blowers pick up the air a couple inches to the right of the vents and not directly over them.
