AS3 on a P4 2.4B CPU?

i know this will be a dumb question, but how do i put arctic Silver 3 on a 2.4B CPU? i am used to putting a thin coat on a small CPU die, but these processors have a big metal plate (what is this called, btw?) over the whole chip. do you put a thin coat on the whole metal thing or just the middle?

EDIT: It is called a IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader)

man, i have trouble spreading the AS3 evenly on the small area... this is gonna suck

I use a piece of Saran Wrap around my finger to dab the AS3 on thin and evenly. 😉

make sure you apply it THIN, or youre not doing much good.

this post reminds me of when AS first came out, there was a different formulation for applying to large surfaces!
