That's one reason they call it March Madness. There's no way to predict what will happen ;)

Thank god Tayshaun Prince was knocking em down ... or UK might not have won. Oh well, I hope Holy Cross has a nice ride home. :p

Big Ten are dropping like flys in the first round. I guess they thought that these other "little" teams would just lay down and roll over against the mighty Big Ten...

No, Iowa won. :) But yes I do agree to a certain extent the Big 10 is overrated. But that doesn't mean that we won't see some good games out of the remaining Big 10 teams.

<--- Is an hour away from the U-Iowa campus. :)

if you knew anything about college basketball, you would know that the big ten and the acc dominate-they are not overrated at all...

the teams that made it deserve it

sure, vershaw may have some trouble making free throws at crucial moments in the game.

regardless, we started with 7 teams, we still have 5....

rootin for my home state- IL!!!

go illini

Umm, ok...who won the 2000 NCAA Tournament?! And how many teams from last year's Final 4 were from the Big 10? Also, how many made it to the Sweet 16? Here's your memory check.

I'll admit the Big 10 looked less than spectacular yesterday, but I hope you're not referencing the Big 10's performance over the last few years in basketball with the "as usual" comment. Especially compared to the Big 12, who if I remember correctly has won sooooo many tournaments over the past ten years!

Sigity- if you knew anything about college basketball you would be able to count.... the big ten has 4 teams left not 5. Losing 3 out of 4 in the first round is hardly a stellar start for such a powerful conference.

Sigity,

Anyone who REALLY knows anything about college basketball knows that the Big 10 and ACC are overrated, and the SEC and Big 12 don't get their proper respect.

(From the Wall Street Journal) Since 1985, the SEC is number 1 in exceeding expectations (over where they are seeded) and the Big 10 is next to last among the big conferences.

SEC record - 122-73 (.6257) expected wins - 108 differential - +14
Big 10 record - 136-89 (.6045) expected wins - 157 differential - -21

The ACC has the best 1-2 punch of any conference year in and year out - Duke and UNC. But top to bottom, their conference also gets too much respect.

Anyone who isn't biased by conference loyalty will admit that the Big 10 is overrated. It's a very simple explanation - no conference puts out nearly so many sports journalists and sports media people as the Big 10. And these people in the sports media influence the way everyone thinks.

By the way, I think Michigan State will play Duke in the finals. But I think every other Big 10 team is rated above where they should be (including Penn State, who shouldn't even be there.)
