Ladybugs are beetles that also emit an unpleasant smell. Despite the common name, it's a beetle, not a "bug."
People in your region call that other beetle a "stinkbug," but they're wrong. An actual stinkbug is a
true bug. Beetles are not "bugs."
Around here, we have wild strawberries (pretty different from the tasty hybrids you buy from the store). Locals incorrectly refer to them as "snake berries" and believe they're poisonous. They are wrong.
In my area, a daddy long-legs (or grand-daddy long-legs) is a Harvestman, which isn't really a spider. In other parts of the country, people use the same name to refer to a common spider that is usually found in basements. In still other parts of the country, the same name refers to a flying insect. In this case, none of them are actually incorrect.
